Highland County Fair 2011
Katie did excellent again this year at the fair. She won 1st place in the 9 year old showmanship division, then won 1st place among the 8 to 11 year old class winners in showmanship, then went on the win second overall in showmanship sweeps. Loosing first place to a senior.
Next she won 1st place in her weight division with her market rabbit and got to sell 10th this year instead of 57th like last year.
She did well in the junior fair show. Her black doe Fuji was competitive until the very end. She lost BOS to our good friends black junior doe. The judges said the junior just had a better coat, cause ours was on the verge of molting. We couldn't have been happier with our placements for our 2nd year at the fair and our first year breeding our own rabbits. Everything, with the exception of Milkshake the showmanship rabbit, were rabbits that we had bred. We were very proud of that fact
.
Drake competed this year in peewee showmanship with his holland lop, Catcher.
Even though all the kids got trophies the judge told us he scored 20/20 points.

Lancaster show and State Dutch Specialty Fall 2010
What a crazy couple of weeks. First Katie took BOB with Cinnamon our gray doe at both Lancaster shows on the 21st. We were shocked and proud, but it made for a very long day. We didn't left the show till 7pm and still had a 2hour drive home, and since we had left at 5:30am to get there we were all tired. It was fun to watch Katie show in the BOB competition though.
The next weekend we went to the state dutch club's fall show in Zainesville. We almost didn't go cause it was a 2 1/2 hour drive and getting up at 5 am just didn't sound appealing since we figured being up against big breeders and people who had been doing this much longer than us, that we stood no chance at any placement. We were wrong and very glad we drug ourselves out of bed. Katie took best opposite sex in the youth class with Cinnamon yet again. It was such an honor, and a win that will be hard to repeat. Beginners luck I guess. It was so cool to watch the big time breeders come congratulate our daughter. She even got her picture taken for the website. Then we had an awesome lunch put on by the club, which we are now members of, and had a good time listening to all the breeders sound off at the board meeting. It was truly an amazing experience.
